Teamwork and leadership are two of the most important skills that I learned in college. Though many of my classes required teamwork I gained the most notable skills in my undergraduate research, not only was I part of a 5-person research team filled with my peers, but we worked closely with collaborating labs at the University of Maryland as well as Brown University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

My favorite kind of teamwork was actually more of a leadership position; I led a Freshman Orientation program for Honors Students that introduced them to college life and our city. This opportunity taught me about organizing events and managing my own and other people\u2019s schedules as well as mentoring students on a personal and academic level. A lot of the students were away from home for the first time so being able to comfort them and teach them about the college experience brought a lot of value to the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working with other students and professors has allowed me to organize my thoughts in a way that others can understand as well as delegate data. Collaborating in the lab requires a strong sense of understanding of what other people are doing as well as being able to accurately communicate what you\u2019ve done. Teamwork has greatly improved my note taking skills in the lab as well as my communication skills. Group projects and classes have also greatly improved my teamwork. In my Organic Chemistry class we worked in groups every class on practice problems, this required a lot of understanding of the content on my end, to be able to explain it to other people and complete the assignment<\/p>\n\n\n\n
